14TH GRADUATION CEREMONY WAS CELEBRATED AT ULK/GISENYI CAMPUS

On this Friday 6th day of December the year 2019, people from different walks of life were rejuvenated to make to Kigali Independent University ULK/Gisenyi Campus to witness its 14th graduation ceremony for undergraduate programme and the 3rd graduation ceremony for Masters programme. As a matter of fact, 494 graduands altogether were crowned with their degrees on the occasion.

ULK’s Chancellor, Prof. Dr KALISA MBANDA officially declares the opening of 14th graduation.

The ceremony was officially opened by ULK’s Chancellor, Prof. Dr KALISA MBANDA. In his opening speech, he enthusiastically welcomed the gathering and thanked each and everyone for having spared part of their time to come over and witness the ceremony. He also reminded the graduands that they should be good ambassadors of their institution by doing what is right and do it right while on the market place.

Speaking on the event, the Vice Chancellor, Dr SEKIBIBI Ezekiel welcomed in special way different guests who were coming from different corners of Africa. He recalled some of the great achievements that Kigali Independent University ULK has so far made. “You have made the right choice, graduands, for Kigali Independent University (ULK) has not only been ranked as the first private university in RWANDA but also from its foundation, ULK graduated thousands and thousands of intellectuals.”  He said.

Speaking on behalf of his fellow graduates, YED MANDEKO, a graduate from the school of Economics and Business Studies, Department of Finance said that ULK  has not only equipped them with knowledge and skills but it has also instilled in them ethical and values which will help them to overcome challenges such as unemployment, by creating their own job. He went ahead saying that, with these values, they believe that windows of opportunities across the globe will open wide for them to enjoy dignified lives.

He pledged that they will never disappoint Kigali independent university and parents yet they will be example-setters both in performance and morality.

In his remarks, the Founder and President of Kigali Independent University ULK, Prof.Dr RWIGAMBA BALINDA thanked, from the bottom of his heart, almighty God, for having made him his servant, and all the people in attendance. He specially thanked those who had come from the neighboring country, the DRC.

Briefing the graduands, the Founder and President of ULK revealed to them the secrets behind being successful. “Positive thought is the main key of success”.  He declared    “We have to embrace and accept to be servants.  Whoever we are, we need to be servant of our people regardless of our ranks titles or status that is the only secret of success” He said

In addition he said that some of people may say that they don’t have any starting capital. It’s obvious but they should remember that an idea on how to start a project costs nothing. “You will not need money to have an idea. Therefore, you will first of all have an idea on what you are going to venture in. Indeed, you may get together in cooperatives and apply for a bank loan under what is known as solidarity caution”, he added.

Best performers got awarded and thereafter Prof. Dr. KALISA MBANDA, ULK Chancellor stood up to dissolve the congregation.
