Campus News

True human beings are those whose compounds are places other humans like to visit. No one can claim to be endowed with human characteristics while they never witness movements of people coming to visit them for various reasons.

This agrees to what Jonathan Haidt uttered, “The most powerful force ever known on this planet is human cooperation – a force for construction and destruction.” It is such a mentality that pushes Kigali Independent University to always strive for petrifying its relationships with other intuitions from different corners.

Indeed, it is through such a partnership that on 26th April, 2016 ULK Gisenyi campus received secondary school leavers from Lycée Kimbilio-Goma DRC alongside their authorities.

Talking about the purpose of the visit, Mr Kabasha B. Medard, Director of Academics, reiterated that the students’ visit is in line with the policy of the university which seeks to partner with other intuitions. But most importantly, he pointed out that the students were brought to visit the university campus after they had expressed their wish to do so in a recent interaction with the Director of Academics at their school in Goma. He added that some of the students expressed their burning desire to do their bachelors program at ULK, thus such a visit was to enable them to have clear information on services offered by the university.

In his welcome remarks, Dr Munyamasoko Cyeze Emmanuel, Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, expressed his satisfaction vis-à-vis the delegation’s visit and thereafter encouraged them to make the right choice by joining the University for their Bachelor’s studies. “Thank you for having chosen our university for your visit. You are soon going to be shown around and it is my belief that at the end of your visit you will all have decided to do your Bachelor’s program here”, he told them.

Asked to have a say, Mr Bahati disclosed his innermost satisfaction and said that he could not trust his eyes. “Je suis vraiment impressionné. Cette université est unique. Elle est equipée des ordinateurs, internet, des bons bureaux, des grandes salles de classe, pour ne citer que cela. Moi personnellement, je ne fairai mes études universitaires qu’ici.»Loosely translated as, “My impression is beyond understanding. This university is unique and one of a kind. It is equipped with computers, internet, nice offices, and spacious classrooms, to mention but a few. Personally my Bachelor’s studies won’t be done anywhere else apart from Kigali Independent university”, he enthusiastically said.

Students were given time to ask questions and all of them were answered to their satisfaction. It is worth noting that ULK is home to both national and international students. As they usually say, they all attribute their coming to ULK for their studies to the quality of education and the way the university tenderly cares for students.
