MEMBERS OF EAC LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY VISIT KIGALI INDEPENDENT UNIVERSITY ULK

Friday, April 22, 2016 members of the EAC Legislative Assembly visited Kigali Independent University ULK to speak on EAC integration. After a word of prayer, Vice Chancellor of ULK, Dr. Sekibibi Ezechiel introduced both Hon. Rwigema Pierre Celestin and Hon. Odette Nyiramirimo who spoke on the EAC functioning.

In her presentation, Hon. Odette Nyiramirimo gave background information on the history of the East African Community (EAC) saying that its idea of establishment is not of recent. She explained the EAC regional and their importance to members of the community. The pillars include customs union, Common market, Monetary Union and Political Federation.

Hon. Odette reminded students of opportunities available as a result of the creation of EAC. She cautioned them to take advantage of such opportunities and make all possible means to develop themselves and promote the country and the community.

Hon. Rwigema Pierre Celestin, a member of EAC legislative Assembly, told students that they are responsible for the success of EAC community and should think of how to take it further towards one state.

Given the magnitude of their presentations, students took sufficient time to ask questions and share ideas on how they think the establishment of EAC should be improved.

Dr. Ezechiel Sekibibi, Vice Chancellor of ULK expressed his vote of thanks to EAC legislative Assembly for their time and resourceful presentations.
