ULK AUTHORITIES WARMLY WELCOMED STUDENTS FROM THE 3rd EAC UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ DEBATE ON REGIONAL INTEGRATION HELD FROM SEPTEMBER 4th- 5th, 2014 IN NAIROBI

Today September 12, 2014, after a word of prayer said by the president and Founder of Kigali Independent university; ULK authorities were in the seventh heaven in the ceremony of welcoming a team of ULK students who have been the pride of the institution by holding higher the flag of Kigali Independent University in the 3rd EAC University Students’ debate on regional integration held at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Nairobi.
The authorities in the ceremony were the president and Founder of ULK, Prof. RWIGAMBA Balinda, Rector of ULK Dr. Ezechiel Sekibibi, Vice Rectors, Deans of Faculties, lecturers and students both those who participated in the previous debates and those of this year.
This ceremony was organized in a bid to celebrate the victory of two students who were proven to have enough skills and competence to have met the regional competition requirements in the above mentioned debate. At the end of the debate judges officially proclaimed and appointed good debaters and EAC Youth ambassadors from all EAC member states.

When the turn of Rwanda came a big applause uttered in the room for Peace Ndekezi Mukazi, a student in year 3 International relations at ULK, who was appointed EAC Youth Ambassador to Rwanda and Henry Mwumvaneza, a student in year 2 International relations.
In his welcoming remarks, the Rector thanked everyone present and requested all people to join him in celebrating the victory by the student because it is an honor for the institution.
Furthermore, he asked Claudien Rudasingwa, a lecturer of English at ULK and a mentor of the team to explain more about the debate and how students came up to this end with victory.

In his speech, Claudien described the whole event and according to his experience it came to his notice during the competition that students were well equipped with enough skills and confidence and therefore they were in a position to compete with students from famous universities across EAC. He also took that opportunity to thank ULK authorities who supported this very idea be it in moral support, prayers and financial support.

He congratulated the students who were appointed ambassadors in particular and other participants to the debate. He also thanked authorities and lecturers who collaborated hand in hand with the students.
